Forensic Interviews
The Forensic Interview (FI) is the first step in determining the needs of the investigation, mental health, medical exam, advocacy, and how to protect the child physically and emotionally going forward. All interviews are conducted by an interviewer specifically trained in the ChildFirst Protocol. All interviews are recorded, which allows the child to be interviewed in a comfortable location while the investigating agencies are able to watch the interview in real time. The ability to have these members gather in the same location, strengthens the case and helps prevent further victimization of the child.
Multidisciplinary Meetings
The Butterfly House Child Advocacy Centers facilitates monthly Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDT) with professionals from our agency, Law Enforcement, the Department of Family and Children’s Services, the District Attorney’s Office, Department of Juvenile Justice, Mental Health Providers, Medical Healthcare Providers, and Schools. Coordination of these monthly meetings allow for frequent follow-up and a case review through the end of the case to ensure that no child falls through the cracks, to ensure that the strongest possible prosecution of offenders, and that all available and appropriate services are being offered to the child(ren) and the non-offending caregivers.
Child & Family Advocacy
Victim support and advocacy are key components for our advocacy center. Child and family advocacy services are provided to all children served by our Center, as well as to non-offending parents, guardians, and other family members. These services are designed to give support and education to the children and caregivers. This is also where referrals are made to ensure that the child and non-offending caregiver are receiving counseling services to start the healing process.
